Cottage View Drive-In

Last Friday Sarah and I decided to take the boys to the drive-in located just a few miles from our home.  It is something we have talked about doing but takes a special occasion like our nephew coming to town to actually pack up the car with popcorn and bug spray and go.

What I did not expect was the unseen culture of the drive-in.  We were rookies, not knowing where to park, what to bring, or how to relax while everyone else seemed at home.  Let me give you an example:  We pulled in, then backed in, with an open parking space in front of us and had a great view.  By showtime, a huge mini van took that open space, the children climbed on the roof to even further obstruct our view.  I noticed that most of the "veterans" pulled into spots with a car in front, thus assuring an excellent view at showtime.  Well played, well played.

Every family was also already in their pj's and had blankets, pillows, and stuffed animals.  Comfort was the goal.

Some families even pull out grills and were eating burgers.  The smells were mouth watering and I found my microwave popcorn, well, lame.

We had a ball, we stayed for both features.  Mike and I slept for most of the second picture but I am glad we stayed.  All in all, I am excited about our next drive-in experience.  An experience that will see me in my pj's.
